Self Contained 1/4 Ton 1800XTSr Front Vent #35882
1886 SENSIBLE BTUH @ 55F.
CellarPro's 1800XTSr-ECX cooling unit (1/4 Ton Nominal) draws inspiration from our 1800XTS cooling unit, then repositions the hot side airflows to the front of the unit, and the cold side airflows to the bottom of the unit, making it ideal for built-in and above-the-door installations that require venting at the front of the unit.
Features include:
- Hot air exhaust and fresh air return are located at the front of the unit
- Ideal for above-the-door and built-in installations
- Cold air exhaust and cellar air return are located at the bottom of the unit
- Ideal for placement at the top or above the wine cellar
- Energy-efficient EC fans
- Oversized stainless-steel drain pan
- Optional 100W heating element to burn off excess condensate
- Choice of drain line configuration
- Grommet hole cap is recommended for properly constructed, airtight cellars
- Optional 1/2-inch fitting and 8' flexible drain line for installations in high-humidity locales
- Choice of power source
- Side or rear
- Fixed 8-ft cord
- Optional bottle probe
- Optional remote display
- Optional networkable thermostat upgrade
Important notes:
- This unit is not designed to handle static pressure and its airflows should never be ducted nor installed in an environment where the airflows will be restricted.
- This unit is designed for installation in temperature-controlled environments, with an 85F maximum intake temperature
CellarPro cooling units are designed to be used in properly-constructed wine cellars that are adequately insulated, airtight and sealed with a vapor barrier. In improperly-constructed cellars, the cooling unit will create excess condensation, leading to damage and premature failure of your cooling unit (not covered by warranty).
Configurations
- CellarPro 1800XTSr units are self-enclosed, fully-charged units designed to be installed through-the-wall or above the ceiling relative to the wine cellar.
- These cooling units are not designed to be ducted.
- 1800XTSr cooling units require fresh air intake at the front of the cooling unit. In addition, the hot exhaust from the cooling unit blows out of the front of the cooling unit. Therefore, sufficient space must exist in front of the unit so that the hot air can dissipate before mixing with the fresh air intake.
- The control panel and digital display are located on the right side of the cooling unit. If this location will be inaccessible, we offer a remote control display kit which is wired to the cooling unit and allows the digital display to be mounted inside or outside the cellar.
- The power cord can exit from the rear or from the right side of the cooling unit, and must be configured prior to purchase.
- The cooling unit can be configured with or without an optional drain line at no charge
- The front of the cooling unit should never be exposed to temperatures below 40F, and the bottom of the cooling unit should never be exposed to temperatures below 32F.
- A CellarPro cooling unit must always be used in the upright position, and should never be operated on its side or upside down.
With the power of our 1800XTS cooling unit, the 1800XTSr has reversed the location of its airflows, making it perfectly designed for built-in or above-the door installations.

What is "Sensible BTUH"?
A: You should always use Sensible BTUH* when comparing different brands of cooling units, and when sizing a cooling unit for your wine cellar. Every cooling unit produces a certain amount of Total BTUH, which is the sum of Sensible BTUH (lowers the temperature) and Latent BTUH (lowers the relative humidity). Because our goal is to cool wine cellars while preserving humidity, wine cellar cooling units should have high Sensible BTUH and low Latent BTUH. The relationship between Sensible and Latent BTUHs is know as SHR (Sensible Heat Ratio), which is calculated as Sensible BTUH/Total BTUH. The SHR for CellarPro cooling units is greater than 90%, which means that CellarPro units provide maximum cooling power without stripping out humidity from the cellar environment.
*CellarPro Sensible BTUHs are calculated assuming 55F cellar temperature, 60% relative humidity and 95F ambient for all units except 1800 units (85F ambient).
How cold can the temperature be where the cooling unit is installed?
A: For installations in environments below 40F down to 20F, we recommend adding our compressor heater (P/N 1727), which is included as standard equipment on all outdoor units. Below 20F, in addition to the compressor heater, we recommend adding our fan cycling switch (P/N 6972)
Can the cooling unit be located in a remote location and ducted to/from the wine cellar?
A: These cooling units are not designed to be ducted.
Does the unit really need a dedicated circuit?
A: First, the background. Unlike our competitors, we build our cooling units with precision expansion valves, not cap tubes, which means that our cooling units aren't limited to a 30F differential between the desired cellar temperature and the ambient temperature. Cooling systems with expansion valves are much more precise than cap tubes, and much more sensitive to low voltage conditions, which is why our units require dedicated circuits. When we say "dedicated circuit", we mean that the circuit shouldn't have any items that require heavy draws of electricity - eg other appliances, vacuum cleaners, big-screen TVs, blow-dryers - on the same circuit as the cooling unit. Lighting, computers or other low-draw items shouldn't be a problem on the same circuit.
What if I don't have sufficient space in front of the cooling unit for the hot air exhaust to dissipate?
A: The front of the cooling units requires sufficient space so that its exhaust can dissipate without polluting the fresh air that the cooling unit requires to operate. If there isn't sufficient space and ducting is required, it would be best to purchase a different unit.

Extremely happy with choice
I’ve been looking for several months for an above the door wine cooler that can take a higher outside the cooler temperature. My search landed me on CellarPro. After an easy installation process the unit is working perfectly and maintaining the temperature I am asking for. I was sure to test it by leaving on a weekend and setting the house temperature to 85. It was well over 110 outside the house. We came home snd the unit did not vary the temperature from what i set it at. I feel I now have a reliable wine cooling unit!
